East Riding: Stay eagle-eyed and take note of bird numbers
GRIMSBY Telegraph readers have been urged to turn eagle-eyed in the garden or local parks. The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds hosts its annual Big Garden Birdwatch this weekend. Recent harsh winters have seen some garden bird populations in Lincolnshire drop, only to make a comeback after a good breeding season the following year. East Riding: Professional service
MAY I please, through the Grimsby Telegraph, recommend Kingsway Tyres, of Immingham, for Service With A Smile. After suffering a puncture with one of my late father's pieces of agricultural equipment, one Saturday morning, we phoned Kingsway Tyres, who were on site within less that half-an-hour of the phone call. A further half an hour later the vehicle was repaired and back in use. May I add particular thanks to both Gary, the branch manager, and Craig, the technician, who helped us out of our predicament, with their professionalism and prompt service. read more

East Riding: No thought for the poor working class
I WAS sickened to read in the newspapers about the Romanian woman who claimed £28,000 per year in benefits. It beggars belief. My wife and I don't get half as much as that between us, even though I have cancer, which resulted in me having to have a kidney removed. I've also had a stroke and a heart attack. I am in my 70s and also have diabetes and I am on insulin and take more than 20 tablets a day. I need constant care from my wife. read more

East Riding: It's cheap labour
YET again I find myself agreeing with Tim Mickleburgh, there are very few jobs out there. Where the government says they are I would like to know. How is anybody expected to live, eat, keep the house warm, pay bills on £65 a week? All job seekers should get the minimum wage or training with the promise of a real job at the end of it. They should not be sent back to job centre, while the employer gets another trainee on a pittance – in other words, cheap labour. Kenny Wharton, Cromwell Road, Grimsby.
